Shaft Clamps for Motors & Drive Systems

Motors & Drive Systems shaft clamp application

Motor and drive assemblies often need a clear axial reference near a pulley, coupling spacer, guard or other shaft-mounted component. A single-split collar can provide that reference while gripping around the shaft rather than pressing one set screw directly into the surface.

Measure the shaft and then map the nearby drive components. The collar must clear the coupling or pulley, remain outside the bearing and seal functions assigned by the machine, and leave a practical path to the clamp screw after guards or covers are installed.

Where the Collar Can Be Used

Use Buyer Check
Motor-shaft reference Confirm that the collar does not interfere with the motor face or bearing area.
Pulley/spacer locator Keep torque transmission and axial location as separate design functions.
Maintenance replacement Record existing OD, width and screw orientation before removal.
Guarded assembly Check tool access after the guard or cover is in place.

Why a Single-Split Collar Is Practical

In a motor or drive assembly, a clamp collar is most useful as an axial reference beside components that already have their own torque-transmission or support functions. It can help locate a spacer, pulley position or service reference without asking the collar to replace a coupling, key or bearing shoulder.

The installation review should focus on neighboring components and service access. Check the motor face, bearing area, coupling or pulley, guard and the tool path to the clamp screw after the assembly is complete; these interfaces often control fit more than the nominal bore alone.

Recommended Selection Path

Step Buyer Check
1 Measure the shaft at the intended collar position.
2 Choose the matching EP-SCS bore and compare outside diameter/width with the available envelope.
3 Confirm the clamp screw can be reached in the assembled machine.
4 State any keyway, non-standard bore, impact or environmental requirement.
5 Send a drawing/photo when the surrounding machine makes the fit difficult to explain in text.

RFQ Information for Motors & Drive Systems

For a motor or drive RFQ, include shaft diameter, EP-SCS size if known, quantity and a photo or drawing showing the coupling, pulley, bearing and guard positions. State whether the collar is a setup reference, spacer locator or replacement so the required axial location is clear.
