In CNC fixtures and automated equipment, a shaft clamp can establish a guide-shaft end stop, a setup reference or a removable axial locator beside another component. The clamp-style format is useful when the position may need to be changed during commissioning or maintenance, because the collar can be loosened, moved and reset without using a point-contact set screw on the shaft.
The first check is the actual shaft diameter, followed by carriage clearance, radial envelope and screw access. On compact axes, the outside diameter can interfere with a moving carriage or sensor even when the bore is correct, so review the entire travel path instead of looking only at the final stop position.
Where the Collar Can Be Used
| Use | Buyer Check |
|---|---|
| Guide-shaft end stop | Check whether the carriage can reach the collar without creating an unintended impact condition. |
| Fixture position reference | Leave tool access so the reference can be adjusted during setup. |
| Paired locator | Define the required axial clearance around the located component. |
| Retrofit stop | Measure old collar width/OD and note surrounding frame restrictions. |
Why a Single-Split Collar Is Practical
On a CNC axis or automated fixture, the practical benefit is adjustability during setup. A collar can be loosened and moved when a stop position or setup reference changes, while the split-clamp format avoids depending on a set screw pressing at one point on the guide shaft.
Clearance should be checked through the full carriage stroke. A bore that fits the shaft can still create a collision if the collar OD, screw head or tool-access direction enters the travel envelope near a sensor, bearing block or end plate.
Recommended Selection Path
| Step | Buyer Check |
|---|---|
| 1 | Measure the shaft at the intended collar position. |
| 2 | Choose the matching EP-SCS bore and compare outside diameter/width with the available envelope. |
| 3 | Confirm the clamp screw can be reached in the assembled machine. |
| 4 | State any keyway, non-standard bore, impact or environmental requirement. |
| 5 | Send a drawing/photo when the surrounding machine makes the fit difficult to explain in text. |
RFQ Information for CNC & Automation Equipment
For CNC and automation enquiries, send the measured guide-shaft diameter, preferred EP-SCS model, required stop/reference position and quantity. Add a travel sketch or photo showing the carriage, end plate and available radial space when the collar sits close to moving hardware.
